The secret to a clean sound lies in the preparation phase. Before playing the note, the finger should already be resting on the string. This “planting” technique serves two purposes: stability, since it eliminates the uncertainty of striking the string “on the fly,” and silence control, since it lets you stop the previous vibration exactly when you want, ensuring a professional legato.

The Triad: Flesh, Nail, and Release

The Role of the Large Knuckle
The movement should not originate from the distal phalanges, the tips of the fingers, but from the large knuckles, the metacarpophalangeal joints.
Imagine the finger as a pendulum: if the movement is small and tense, the sound will be small. If the movement starts from the base of the hand, you use the natural weight of the limb, reducing muscular strain and drastically increasing the depth of your sound.
